'It isn't a scam. DON'T bin the letter'
Martin Lewis has warned hundreds of thousands of women that they may be owed £10,000s by the HMRC and urged them 'don't bin' an imminent letter.
The financial journalist and broadcaster took to his account on X, formerly Twitter, to appeal to people to 'spread the word' about a letter that could lead to some women receiving a cash boost worth tends of thousands of pounds. It will be mainly targeted at women over a certain age who had taken time off work for childcare between 1978 and 2010.HMRC has started writing to people who may be owed more state pension due to a mistake in national insurance records.
