Martha Stewart revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that she was once offered the chance to host Saturday Night Live but couldn't accept due to parole restrictions. Stewart was released from prison in 2004 and said she was allowed out of her house for only eight hours a day. She explained that Lorne Michaels, the creator and producer of SNL, had called her while she was still on parole and asked if she'd like to host the show.
Stewart said she was interested but her parole officer wouldn't allow it. Fallon playfully agreed that Stewart would have been a fantastic host, a sentiment Stewart echoed. While Stewart never got to host SNL, she is certainly a recognizable figure on the show. Fallon pointed out that nine different people have impersonated her over the years, and Stewart said she enjoys the impressions, particularly those done by Cecily Strong and Kate McKinnon. Fallon also mentioned that Stewart's iconic status has led to her being parodied in other shows and media, further cementing her place in pop culture
