Martha Stewart reveals she was approached to host Saturday Night Live while on parole but her parole officer wouldn't allow it. She shares her frustration and discusses the possibility of hosting in the future.

Martha Stewart has expressed her desire to host Saturday Night Live after a previous opportunity was thwarted. During a January 27th appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon , the 83-year-old lifestyle guru revealed that she was approached to host the show while she was on parole following her 2004 stint in Alderson Federal Prison. Stewart recounted that her parole officer prevented her from accepting the offer due to time constraints.

Stewart, who served five months in prison for conspiracy to obstruct justice and making false statements to federal investigators, explained that she was only allowed eight hours outside her house per day under her parole conditions. She playfully expressed frustration at the missed opportunity, stating, 'I'm so pissed,' while adding, 'Maybe someday.' Fallon, 50, enthusiastically agreed that Stewart would be 'fantastic' as a host, prompting Stewart to jokingly suggest launching a campaign for the coveted position. Stewart further disclosed that Lorne Michaels, the creator and longtime producer of Saturday Night Live, had previously contacted her to host the show. Interestingly, Stewart has been impersonated nine times on SNL, with notable portrayals by Amy Poehler and Kristen Wiig. She particularly cherished an impersonation by David Spade, who wore her genuine poncho during the skit. Stewart embraces the flattery of imitation, stating, 'Imitation is the highest form of flattery,' and adding, 'And you might as well be imitated.' While Stewart harbors aspirations to host SNL, she is also interested in participating in The Traitors after receiving a public invitation from Alan Cumming. Although she hasn't yet watched the Peacock show, she plans to catch up on it and considers it a potential source of fun. Meanwhile, Fallon jokingly cautioned Stewart about the possibility of being 'targeted unfairly' on The Traitors due to her celebrity status. Undeterred, Stewart confidently asserted, 'They don't know me in Scotland,' to which Fallon quipped, 'They know you in Mars. They know you in the universe. You're Martha Stewart.
