Sgt. Luis Valadez, who was born in Mexico and raised in Fort Worth, served as a field artillery cannoneer from 2004 to 2009. Valadez trained at San Diego, Camp Pendleton and Fort Sill before being assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment in Hawaii.
