March Madness the very reason Marcus Sasser gave UH one more season
Houston guard Marcus Sasser pronounced his groin"close to 90 percent" on Thursday as he prepared for the Midwest Regional in Kansas City, where the top-seeded Cougars will face No. 5 Miami on Friday night. In only a short time on the University of Houston campus, Sasser learned things would be different. Early-morning workouts. Hours in the weight room. Constant demands.“Real rough,” Sasser said recently of the fall of his freshman year in 2019. “I was going to leave.
Asked recently how years from now he wants to be remembered, Sasser simply replied: “As a winner. That was my goal: to really leave my legacy as being a winning player. I feel like I did that.” “Marcus wanted to be great,” coach Kelvin Sampson said. “He deserves all the credit. He put in the work. While he has been here, he has made his mark. He’s one of the great guards in Cougar basketball history.”
Sasser scored 14 points in his college debut against Alabama State. After spending most of his freshman year coming off the bench, Sasser started the final 15 games. He’s been in the lineup ever since.
