Our Maple Leafs vs. Flames predictions expect Toronto to do more damage on the power play.
We have five games on the NHL betting slate tonight, including an all-Canadian showdown between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Arena. Toronto has been an inconsistent club since returning from the 4 Nations break, but the power play continues to click, and that’s the market I'm eyeing for tonight's Maple Leafs vs.
Flames predictions.this season. Both teams enter tonight’s game on a two-game losing streak and desperately need the win to keep up with their respective playoff races. However, neither team is playing its best hockey right now. The Flames are just 2-3-3 in their last eight games, while the Buds have just one regulation in their last six . The Maple Leafs won the earlier meeting between these two teams 6-3 and have won five straight games against Calgary. Perhaps this will be the game to get the Buds back on track. A big reason for the win back on February 4 was the Maple Leafs' success on the power play, scoring twice on four chances. Overall, this power play has been the only semi-consistent offense the team has had during this six-game stretch, netting six power-play goals over this porous six-game stretch with a 30% conversion rate. William Nylander is leading the way for the Buds, who has registered a power-play point in four of those six outings, hence why tonight’s best bet is for him to log a point on the man advantage. The Calgary-born winger scored a power-play goal in the last meeting en route to his second career hat trick and has enjoyed immense success against his hometown team throughout his career. He's currently riding a nine-game point streak against the Flames, totaling 21 points in that stretch, with six coming via the power play. Toronto should also get plenty of power-play opportunities tonight, as the Flames are the third most penalized team in the NHL per 60 minutes of play, averaging four penalties per game. That's also been costly for Calgary this season as its PK ranks 26th in the league with just a 75% kill rate. No player on the Leafs loves to torment his hometown town quite like Nylander. He has seven goals and 21 points during a nine-game point streak against the Flames. Let’s add a Nylander anytime goal to our bet card for the first leg of the SGP. That goal coming on the man advantage would be a bonus. He has three of those in the last five meetings. We’ll continue to target Nylander and take him to register 3+ shots on goal tonight. He’s hit this mark in back-to-back games and four of his last six outings. Plus, the Flames allow 29.2 shots against per game, the eighth-most in the NHL. That's why we're closing out with Auston Matthews to get 3+ shots. He’s hit this total in seven of his last 10 games, averaging 3.9 shots per game in that stretch. He’s also had three shots in nine of his last 10 meetings against the Flames. Looking to bet on some Leafs action?
