KOTA KINABALU: A massive manhunt has been mounted for nine escaped immigration detainees in Sandakan.

Sandakan OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azhar Hamin said the nine escapees, aged from 18 to 43, had escaped through a toilet window in the detention centre around 2am on Wednesday .The detainees were believed to have planned and prepared for their escape for quite some time.It is learnt that roadblocks have been manned at most roads while known backdoor routes are being closely monitored.

Those with information of the whereabouts of these detainees are urged to contact the Sandakan police station at 089-212 222 or any nearest police station immediately.
