A Manchester council boss has warned of 'spate' of evictions over the next few months as a new government policy is introduced.
Labour's new Renters Reform Bill would prevent private landlords from evicting tenants without having a legitimate reason. The move was first proposed by the Conservatives when they were in power, but it was delayed due to concerns about the impact on landlords.It means that landlords can still evict tenants who have done nothing wrong with just two months notice.
According to the Local Government Chronicle , he said: "The abolition of section 21 is going to have such a positive impact on homeless services, but in the interim period, I think we're going to see a spate of section 21s for landlords who don't want to give assured tenancies to their existing tenants.
