James Culter operates Boss Bagels single-handedly
James Cutler, 38, runs Boss Bagels single-handedly, operating out of a van outside the Derry Social Club close to Everton Park. The van only operates on match days for Liverpool FC, and since opening in 2021 has become a popular choice before and after games at Anfield.
“The queue was well out the door. We went in, we loved it. I said to my partner, there's nothing like this locally in Essex, let's give it a go.” “I was doing this drive once a week, once a fortnight anyway. Obviously match days are a lot longer now. But I get to make a living out of it now.” Despite the risk of starting the business and the travelling involved, James felt confident Scousers would support him. He said: “I love it, I've always loved it. I think Scousers in general are very welcoming. I think they treat me as one of their own and I like to give back what I can.”
“If I have a dozen or so bagels left over, I take them into the Royal Liverpool University Hospital for the staff on my way home.”
