A man was struck by a Coaster train and killed Sunday afternoon in the Mission Hills area, a sheriff’s officials said.
The crash occurred about 3:25 p.m. on the tracks near the intersection of Pacific Highway and West Washington Street. Sheriff’s Sgt. Jason King said a northbound Coaster train struck the man. Paramedics tried to save him, but he did not survive his injuries, King said. The county Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the man’s identity, and determine the cause and manner of his death.The sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit, which investigates incidents along the routes of the North County Transit District, was in charge of the investigation into the crash.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call the Sheriff’s Department’s non-emergency line at 565-5200.
