After leaving Santaquin, Jayne drove south to Mona where it’s believed he ditched the semi-truck and stole a pickup truck. From there, he drove to Sanpete County, which is where he’s picked up on surveillance video at the home of Jack Pate. “Our first shot of him was when he was casing the house on the backside. He walked within about four feet of a camera and it was just full face and he didn’t look up the camera so we had a full face shot and that’s when I saw him in his stocking feet casing the house,” Pate said.
“So you can see on the video he comes up here and he smashes in,” Pate said as he demonstrated the movement of the vehicle. “It looked serious but it was so completely unusual,” Pate said after watching the entire ordeal numerous times on recorded video. Instead of pressing the garage door opener, he backed the truck out of the garage, smashing through the door and pulling it off the hinges. The garage door came to a rest on the driveway and front lawn of the home.
