Man shot and killed inside Subway restaurant on Chicago's South Side
CHICAGO -- A man was shot and killed inside a Subway restaurant in Chatham Thursday night. Chicago police said the victim was shot in the head by another man in the 100 block of West 79th Street around 11:40 p.m. The victim and the suspect did not work at the Subway. The manager of the restaurant said he believed the victim walked over from the gas station next door.
A woman who brings her grandson here every morning said she is in shock. 'I'm blown back,' She said. 'I mean, it is 79th Street, so you get what you get late at night. But I'm shocked though.'While the Subway restaurant opened Friday morning, police later hung up a sign stating the restaurant is closed. The orange sign says the business presents a public safety threat because of a violent offense during operating hours. No arrests have been made.
