Crash closed Interstate 81 for about eight hours
A tractor-trailer driver was killed in a crash on Interstate 81 in Franklin County Monday evening.Pennsylvania State Police said James Haywood, 58, of Georgia, died after his truck went off the road and down an embankment in Guilford Township around 6 p.m. “ was traveling in the left lane of travel while negotiating a right-hand curve.
lef the travel lane to the east into the grassy median, traveled approximately 450 feet and struck and embankment,” PSP said in a statement. “ then traveled over the embankment, down a steep hill and impacted a railroad embankment.”You can see a picture of the trailer hanging down the embankment in the video player above. Haywood was pronounced dead at the scene.The deadly crash shut down the southbound lanes of I-81 for about eight hours. The road reopened around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
