Man held on $100 bond in misdemeanor arrest is first Harris County Jail death of 2023

When the chase reached Rankin Road in Harris County, the car pulled into a gas station and almost hit a constable deputy who had gotten out of his car, according to the Police Reporter. The constable deputy fired his gun at the car and hit a tire, according to the report. The man drove back on to the highway and a short time later crashed his car into a center divider at the Beltway 8 exit. After the crash, the man started to slash himself with a razor blade, according to the Reporter. Constable deputies reached the man and were able to apply two tourniquets, according to the report.No charges have been announced. The man's name wasn't immediately released.
