A 33-year-old man has been arrested following the incident outside The Manchester in the Promenade area of Blackpool
The victim, who suffered a serious head injury, was taken to hospital following the altercation outside the Manchester pub in the Promenade area at around 7pm on Saturday . Witnesses say that the pub was taped off following the incident and there was a heavy police presence.
Police said that a man was arrested at the scene and he remains in custody where he is set to be questioned by detectives.A Blackpool Police spokesperson said: "You may have seen police activity on Lytham Road, Blackpool, this evening so we wanted to give you more information about it. At around 7pm today patrols in the Promenade area attended an assault outside the Manchester pub.
"They found a man had suffered a serious head injury. He has been taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a critical condition. A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of wounding and he remains in custody. Enquiries are ongoing." The incident came after Blackpool FC and Burnley faced each other at Bloomfield Road, with the match ending 0-0.
