A man was fatally struck by a NYC subway train in the Bronx early Tuesday morning, police said.

Law enforcement sources said the victim, described as a Black man of an unknown age, was on the roadbed of the tracks as the northbound D train was entering the station.

Authorities said the train operator used the emergency brakes but was unable to stop the train, which struck the man. According toEMS responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday morning. The NYPD is withholding the man’s name and identity pending family notification.MTA, the state agency that runs the city’s

subway trains, told amNewYork Metro that the B and D trains were delayed in both directions as of 11 a.m.
