A serious family illness is the reason given for a New York man dropping his suit that stemmed from an I-80 traffic stop that resulted in no criminal charges.
WILLIAMSPORT-A New York man has withdrawn his federal lawsuit in which he accused two state troopers of wrongfully seizing $36,000 in cash, eight cases of silver bullion coins and two boxes of silver coins.
It was his decision to withdraw the suit filed a year ago in U.S. Middle District Court and not based on the advice of counsel, he said.claiming they did not have a valid reason to seize the items following in Interstate 80 traffic stop in Montour County on Feb. 17, 2020. Because of Schifter’s rambling and vague answers plus a record showing arrests in three states, Conrad sought permission to search the RV.
A search was conducted after Conrad’s drug detection dog had an alert at the front and passenger side of the RV. That is when the cash, bullion, coins and jewelry were discovered.
