A 30-year-old man has been charged with aggravated murder after a fatal stabbing at a Subway restaurant in Gahanna, Ohio. The suspect, William Marshall, was apprehended by police and is being held without bail.
William Marshall, 30, of Westerville, was charged with aggravated murder for the death of 71-year-old Gary Frantz at a Subway restaurant at 321 Stoneridge Lane on Dec. 20. A judge granted a request by prosecutors to hold Marshall without bail, finding the defendant posed a substantial risk of serious physical harm and that no release conditions would reasonably assure the safety of that person and the community.
Officers found Marshall sitting on the curb with his hands up without any clothes on. Investigators said the suspect and victim did not know each other. The video, released by Gahanna police through a public records request, shows Marshall calmly asking officers to change how his handcuffed because 'I'm kind of a big dude.' Marshall appears to be compliant with officers during his arrest. As police enter the store, a set of clothes, presumably Marshall's, are on the ground behind the entryway. Frantz can be seen on the ground in front of the counter. Two employees hiding were escorted out from the back of the store, and an unknown amount of people were hiding in the restroom
