A 33-year-old man was charged with murder and arson after allegedly setting a woman on fire while she slept on a New York City subway train.
A 33-year-old man, Sebastian Zapeta, has been charged with first and second-degree murder and arson after allegedly setting a woman on fire while she slept on an F train in Coney Island, Brooklyn . The unidentified woman died at the scene. Zapeta, who re-entered the U.S. after being deported to Guatemala in 2018, was arrested several hours later at the 34th Street-Herald Square station. He was wearing the same clothes and had a lighter in his pocket.
Police said Zapeta and the victim were strangers and the motive for the attack remains unknown. Three high school students who witnessed the crime called 911 and helped identify Zapeta
