Man brutally kicked and punched woman as she lay on the road while her young child watched on

Patrick Corcoran initially punched his victim in Padiham on April 23 last year while they were both sitting in a car with her child. They both got out of the car, leading to Corcoran hitting the victim on her head, causing her to stagger backwards.

He then picked the victim up by her head with one hand and punched her again, throwing her violently to the floor. He then returned to his car and drove off with the victim's infant child on board. Corcoran, 23, of Bolckow Road, Middlesbrough, was arrested and later charged with attempted Section 18 assault. He pleaded guilty and was jailed for 45 months at Burnley Crown Court.
