An Auburn man has been arrested in connection to a multiple-vehicle crash in Opelika that left a Columbus surgeon dead.
OPELIKA, Ala. -An Auburn man has been arrested in connection to a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 85 in Opelika that left a Columbus surgeon dead.
He is charged with reckless murder following a deadly collision on I-85 at the Exit 62 northbound exit ramp on Sept. 7. Police said Lopez received no bond for the charge. Authorities added that Lopex may have been impaired during the time of the crash. 50-year-old Dr. Malcom Goodchild from Fortson, Georgia, died from his injuries at the hospital following the accident.
Opelika police say the Toyota 4Runner was traveling in the wrong direction on the northbound exit ramp when it struck the Tesla head-on.
