A 26-year-old man from Circle, Alaska, was arrested and charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing another man outside a cabin on Thursday afternoon.
FastCast digital headlines for the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 3, 2025.CIRCLE, Alaska (KTUU) - A 26-year-old Circle man was arrested and charged with murder after Alaska State Troopers say he shot another man outside of a cabin in Alaska ’s Interior. On Thursday at around 5:55 p.m., troopers responded to a report that a man had been shot by another man at a cabin in Circle., revealed that Jerek Boyle, 26, had shot 48-year-old James Gelvin.
Investigators from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation also responded. After an initial investigation, it was revealed that Boyle and Gelvin had gotten into an argument earlier that day and Boyle had shot Gelvin just outside the cabin door. Gelvin was pronounced dead on scene and his body was transported to Anchorage for an autopsy. The next of kin have been notified. Boyle has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder and has been remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center. Alaska’s News Source reached out to Boyle’s defense attorney but has not yet received a response at the time of publishing
