The WCSO responded to a 911 call on December 27th reporting a man had attempted to kidnap a child at Berry Springs Park just outside the city limits of Georgetown. When deputies arrived on scene, they found the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Christopher Garza, being restrained by witnesses who observed Garza attempting to kidnap the juvenile at the park.Garza was under the influence of narcotics and possessed sex toys in his car, according to Deputies. WCSO Commander John Foster told CBS Austin that Garza had attempted to grab one child, who ran to alert a parent, and then attempted to grab another child before being chased down by two fathers at the park. "It's just not normal, I mean honestly, that something like this happens," Foster said of the attempted kidnapping."There's not too much caution that you can have when you're watching your kids play, even in a park, or anywhere," he said.The Williamson County Sheriff's Office believes this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The WCSO posted on Facebook, thanking the citizens who intervened to protect innocent children from harm.
