Police arrested the man, who fled after taking garbage outside the prison early Tuesday evening.
A 50-year-old man briefly escaped from the Dauphin County Prison on Tuesday before being arrested an hour later.
Andre Richardson, who is incarcerated there, was taking trash from the kitchen outside the prison at 6:59 p.m. when he fled the property toward Route 441, according to a press release. Richardson’s supervising correctional officer immediately alerted the prison, which was placed on lockdown while local law enforcement agencies were called in.“We are grateful to our partners in the local law enforcement community for their swift response and collaboration in this incident,” said John Brey, Dauphin County criminal justice director. “While there was never any threat to the community, we take these security matters very seriously.
