Larsen wasThe home is described as a facility for people with diminished mental capacity. In February, a judge found Larsen to be incompetent to stand trial for an initial period of 90 days. On Thursday, an attorney representing Larsen asked the judge to hold off on entering a plea until his next competency hearing, which is scheduled for April 15. Officers were dispatched to a residence on East Eighth Avenue near the corner of Bragaw Street around 12:28 p.m. on Feb. 6. Police say 41-year-old Nicholas Thorne was found with severe head trauma and a lot of blood on the bed at the place when they arrived, according to charging documents. It was determined that Larsen, who was also a resident at the facility, had hit Thorne with a blunt instrument, according to police. Charging docs state that a fire extinguisher covered in blood was laying on the floor near the mattress. The investigation also revealed he assaulted another person who lived in the residence, causing non-life-threatening injuries, on Feb. 6, the same day he allegedly assaulted Thorne. A caretaker at the facility told investigators that Larsen had been acting “very aggressive” towards other residents and challenging them to fights over the night and into the day on Feb. 6. Police said that he also appeared to have blood on his shirt and hands when they took him to APD headquarters. The caretaker also said Larsen acts erratic when he is “not taking his medication,” according to charging documents.Alaska man who killed mom, brother at age 12 makes plea in new murder caseMan killed during reported Anchorage burglary identified, homicide investigation ongoing
