JOHOR BARU: Malaysia will soon have a single agency with full authority at the country's entry points.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the government was fine-tuning the set-up of the single border control agency, which had been initiated in 2018.“When it comes to border issues, people will think about the Immigration Department but there are more than 20 agencies involved and remember every single one.
“If we succeed in establishing a single border agency that unifies all their functions, utilising the latest technology and without compromising security, this is the right way to go," he said here on Friday .Speaking after chairing the Causeway congestion decision coordination committee meeting here, he said the government was studying examples and best practices from countries with single border control agencies such as the United Kingdom, United States, New Zealand, Canada and Singapore.
