The envoy said the regular exchange of visits at all levels are vital to increase cooperation.

Sarawak, being the only state in Malaysia sharing land borders with Brunei, plays a key role in bilateral relations between the two countries, Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Datuk Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah said on Friday.He said the Malaysian High Commission in the Sultanate is set to hold a number of cultural, social and sports activities this year.

He said this at a media appreciation dinner for over 30 journalists from several local news agencies including Radio Television Brunei, Pelita Brunei and Brunei Press Sdn Bhd at Vanda Restaurant, Mulia Hotel in the capital. Sarawak is looking to deepen its trade and investment relations as well as collaboration in the agriculture and tourism sectors with Brunei, leveraging on Brunei International Airport as an international travel hub to promote Borneo. The opening of Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office this year will see through this opportunities, said the high commissioner.

The envoy said last year was an exceptionally year for Brunei-Malaysia trade, accounting to RM13.22 billion, compared to RM8.03 billion in the previous year. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
