The Philadelphia Streets Department closed several roads around City Hall on Tuesday evening for a major snow removal operation. This closure included the following:South Broad Street from Chestnut Street to City HallEast Market Street from 13th Street to City HallOfficials say the operation involved dozens of vehicles, including excavators and loaders, to quickly remove tons of snow.

Crews used the same snow removal operation in North Philadelphia along Girard Avenue and nearby neighborhoods, officials added.Philadelphia snow removal continues as some narrow neighborhood streets go unplowed"They're side streets, you know, that's the way it always is," said Bridesburg resident Joe Lange. Action News found several snow-covered roads in the neighborhood, where some residents shoveled their vehicles out in groups while others resigned themselves to being stuck. City Streets Commissioner Kristin Del Rossi said crews are working to reach those smaller roads, using smaller excavators to navigate tight blocks."I thought they would have done a little more salting, a little more plowing," said Alivini. Alvini's car is just one of many getting stuck in the piles of snow on Tasker Street. "The last two days I had to call out of work because I couldn't get in," he said."This is a like a little ludicrous," said Evans. "The city says they're doing, but as we can see with our own eyes, it's just too much snow."Residents are urged to report snow-covered streets and sidewalks to 311.
