The Streets Department launched a 'Lifting Operation,' sending teams to haul away snow around City Hall on Tuesday, January 27.Penn Square around City Hall and nearby streets will be completely closed for cleanup from 4 p.m. until midnight on Tuesday:• South Broad from Chestnut Street to City Hall• East Market Street from 13th Street to City Hall"The crews and vehicles involved in this operation have been working in North Philly over the past two days, lifting snow from Girard Avenue and nearby neighborhoods since Sunday evening. Similar Lifting Operations have been underway in neighborhoods across the city," city officials wrote in a news release. Officials shared that this operation will involve dozens of vehicles, including excavators and loaders. Residents are urged to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. If you must travel, allow extra time, drive slowly, and give crews plenty of space to work safely.
