Service from the station was halted in all directions after smoke was reported about 2:30 p.m. on the trailing car of an eastbound train, between 19th Street and MacArthur stations.
Major delays were developing Monday afternoon at BART after reports of smoke on a train car in downtown Oakland forced the evacuation of riders and closed MacArthur Station, BART officials said.
