This week is Mailbox Improvement Week. The U.S. Postal Service is asking all homeowners to inspect and repair their mailboxes.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -
Repairing mailboxes is more than just improving the appearance of communities. It makes delivering and receiving mail safe for both carriers and customers. The Postal Service makes this request every year because of the wear and tear that occurs to mailboxes over time.Replacing loose hinges on a mailbox door.Remounting a loosened mailbox post.Replacing rusted hinges or remounting loose posts will help ensure the safe and timely delivery of your mail.
If a homeowner plans to install a new mailbox or replace a worn one, this person must use only Postal Service-approved traditional, contemporary, or locking full/limited service mailboxes. Customers may use a custom-built mailbox but must consult with local postmasters to ensure it conforms to guidelines for flag size, strength, and quality of construction.Copyright 2024 WSFA.
