Called Bolt-M systems, the machine-learning infused strike drones put lethal precision firepower in the hands of individual soldiers.

A California-based company is set to deliver more than 600 machine-learning infused strike drones to the U.S. Marine Corps. Called Bolt-M systems, the drone puts lethal precision firepower in the hands of individual soldiers.

Developed by Anduril, the Bolt-M systems will be the part of the next phase of the Organic Precision Fires-Light program beginning in February 2026.The U.S. Marine Corps awarded Anduril a $23.9 million contract to deliver these systems. The company revealed that the Bolt-M will be fielded into the first operational Marine units beginning in the summer of 2026, where end users will train and employ organic, loitering, precision strike capabilities in tactical formations.Drones offer category-leading range, endurance, and payload capacityThe contract award comes after 13 months of rigorous testing. During that phase, Anduril delivered an initial tranche of more than 250 Bolt-M systems and validated Bolt’s performance against a variety of safety, environmental, and performance requirements. Across hundreds of flights, Bolt-M demonstrated its category-leading range, endurance, and payload capacity against multiple target sets. Following that successful testing, the U.S. Marine Corps selected Bolt-M for initial fielding, according to a press release. The USMC’s OPF-L program is designed to provide dismounted Marine infantry rifle squads with a man-packable, easy-to-operate precision strike capability to engage adversaries beyond line of sight.Under the next phase of the program, the company will deliver more than 600 Bolt-M systems – and associated ground control and ancillary equipment – to the USMC between February 2026 and April 2027. Bolt-M will be fielded into the first operational Marine units beginning in the summer of 2026, where end users will train and employ organic, loitering, precision strike capabilities in tactical formations, according to Anduril.Lethal precision firepowerThe company highlights that the Bolt-M, the munition variant of Bolt, is designed to arm any ground force with lethal precision firepower, leveraging onboard software to automate the flight behaviors required to accurately track and strike a target, while providing human operators with four simple decisions: where to look, what to follow, how to engage, and when to strike.Modern ground forces need large numbers of low-cost, lightweight, man portable, and reliable loitering munitions that are capable of delivering outsized performance without requiring specialized operators. That is precisely what Bolt-M delivers, according to Anduril. The company claims that Bolt-M is designed for ease of operation and rapid deployment in a man-portable package. Bolt-M offers autonomous waypoint navigation and target-agnostic object tracking, customizable standoff distances and engagement modalities, and more than 40 minutes of endurance and 20 kilometers of range to extend the reach of dismounted forces.Recently, the company built and delivered more than 300 Bolt systems to another customer within just five months of contract award. That effort validated Anduril’s production ethos: develop, manufacture and deliver category-defining, reliable products at unprecedented speed and scale.
