The M66 remains shut this morning
A stretch of the M66 motorway remains closed this morning hours after a serious crash.
The northbound carriageway between junction four at Simister Island for the M60/M62 and junction three for Pilsworth was first closed off at around 7.40pm last night . Last night, a spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "This evening on the M66 in Bury a serious road traffic collision between two cars has injured three people, one critically. Police, North West Ambulance Service, and firefighters from Blackley, Bury and Whitefield fire stations are in attendance on the motorway which is closed and is expected to be closed for several hours.
