The Angels were in need of a big offensive boost after they fell into a four-run deficit by the third inning Saturday night.
In the fifth inning, Trout blasted a three-run home run, his third of the season, to about the same spot his homer from Saturday landed. His home run allowed the Angels to take their first lead of the game. Renfroe’s two-run shot in the eighth provided some extra insurance for the Angels.The food options at Angel Stadium for the 2023 season include three new vegetarian offerings, along with some returning entrees and desserts.
Earlier in the fifth inning, Rengifo hit a solo home run, his first of the season. An excited crowd then screamed in jubilation when catcher Matt Thaiss, the next batter after Rengifo, reached first on a throwing error by Toronto starter José Berrios. The Blue Jays struck first this game. In the top of the third, Angels starter Tyler Anderson gave up a pair of two-run home runs, the first to Bichette and the second to third baseman Matt Chapman.The Angels’ home opener underlined the popularity of Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout.
