Long-time TV anchorman at 2 Pa. stations dies

Keith Martin wore two hats very well. One as a TV anchor at WBRE and WGAL; the other as Pa. National Guard brigadier general.

Martin also was a retired Pennsylvania National Guard brigadier general, the Citizens Voice writes, adding:

“Martin joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in 1981 and served in a number of capacities, including state marksmanship coordinator. After a 34-year career, Martin left the service as a colonel and received the honorary rank of brigadier general upon his retirement. “In February 2003, Gov. Ed Rendell appointed Martin to serve as Pennsylvania’s Director of Homeland Security, a position he held for about a year and a half. He continued serving as a senior advisor to the governor until September 2005.”

Martin was Scranton native who earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and Russian at Lafayette College. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1968, serving 2½ years on active duty, including a deployment to Vietnam and Cambodia as a forward observer and heavy mortar platoon leader, the Citizens Voice adds.Former longtime WBRE-TV anchorman and retired Pennsylvania National Guard brigadier general Keith Martin has died.
