The six eight-week-old kittens were born with a phenomenon known as Fever Coat, which will see their coats range from various shades of grey to black over time.

The cats were brought into the care of the Scottish SPCA after they were discovered with their mother in unsuitable living conditions. They are currently being cared for by the animal welfare charity, which is seeking forever homes for the tiny felines, the Daily Record reports.

Fever coat occurs when a pregnant cat develops a fever due to infection, illness or stress, which affects the temperature-sensitive black pigment production in the developing kittens. The kittens are then born much lighter in colour at the tips of their fur - giving them a distinctive frosted look.
