Police received reports of minor injuries following the crash
Emergency services descended on Liverpool city centre after a Stagecoach bus crashed into the back of an Arriva bus outside the Empire Theatre. Police were called to Lime Street at around 10.50am today, Saturday, November 23, after a collision between the two vehicles in the city centre. Police blocked the lane going away from Lime Street train station St George's Place while Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service conducted an investigation into the crash.
Police kept the road shut for several hours while they waited for a recovery vehicle to rescue the Arriva bus when it failed to start after the crash. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: 'We were called at 10.48am to a report of a collision between two buses. 'There are reports of minor injuries and there is a road closure in place as the Arriva bus won't start. We are waiting for it to be recovered before reopening the road.
