Forecasters predict only 1 to 3 inches of snow for New Jersey this weekend.
A new winter storm is expected to drop only 1 to 2 inches of snow across New Jersey Friday night into Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters from Accu Weather are predicting 1 to 3 inches of snow for the Garden State, along with New York City and Philadelphia. Sorry, New Jersey snow fans. If you were hoping for a blockbuster snowstorm this weekend, it’s looking more and more unlikely.
The storm system is expected to develop near the Gulf Coast on Friday, “lifting through the southeast U.S. and pushing offshore near the Carolinas on Friday night,“ the weather service said. The track looks to remain far enough south and east to limit significant accumulations (in New Jersey), though the precipitation shield should get up into our region for at least a period Friday night into Saturday morning. A winter storm that will bring significant impacts to the south-central U.S. is expected to drop only between 1 to 3 inches of snow on the New Jersey region Friday night, Jan. 10, into early Saturday, Jan. 11, according to forecasters from AccuWeather. If you’re hoping for a big snowfall this weekend, you’ll have to travel farther west or farther south — to the south-central region of the country. Forecasters from AccuWeather say states like Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee and even as far south as Texas could get hit with “a substantial amount of snow and ice” from the same storm system that will be brushing our region
