Comics nationwide celebrated "Peanuts" creator Charles Schulz's 100th birthday on Nov. 26.— On Nov. 22, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra presented a chamber-music concert performed by a small group of top-notch musicians: legendary violinist Pinchas Zukerman; his wife, cellist Amanda Forsyth; violist Pierre Lapointe; and pianist Shai Wosner, along with string and woodwind members of the DSO.
What was really magical was that they sold fewer tickets and surprised the audience by putting folding chairs onstage and had the audience sit on the stage and in the chorus’s seats, with the musicians facing upstage just inches from the audience. No one else was seated in the rest of the hall. The Meyerson Symphony Center was thus transformed into an intimate, acoustically-gorgeous salon, as chamber music is ideally meant to be heard!
Those of us blessed to attend had much to be thankful for, with memories of this phenomenal musical experience to last a lifetime. And great, uplifting musical experiences are what the world truly needs at this time.— My husband and I were surprised to see that many of the comics on Nov. 26 referenced theThank you to all the comics’ authors who honored and remembered Schulz on what would have been his 100th birthday. The strips got to the heart of what made Schulz great.
