If this sounds too good to be true, it is. First, is “curbing greenhouse gases” really necessary? Abundant empirical evidence over hundreds of millions of years demonstrates that atmospheric carbon dioxide — in concentrations far higher than today — has never been a significant driver of global warming. This is an inconvenient truth blissfully ignored by climate alarmists.
Now’s the time. We’ve already wasted 40 years. It’s time for the United States to step up and lead the world in this climate fight. So a carbon tax plus shutting down gas and coal plants can both be part of the patriotic sacrifice that every American resident should be willing to make.Re: “U.S. caught in Canadian haze — Smoke from northern blazes smothers East Coast, Midwest,” June 8 news story.That climate change intensified Canadian wildfires shows that existential threats know no borders.
We forget that we are biological beings first, consumers second and citizens third. And right now we have a small foretaste of fires across the globe consuming our last gasps of breathable air while we pave the way to a bleak future.I find it interesting that whenever a person states their opinion on renewable energy, you can tell which political party they are affiliated with.
Setting an example to regimes and countries around the world that hate the West simply enables those countries to grow stronger, while the countries setting the example can weaken due to economic disadvantages. These countries wouldn’t mind seeing the West hobble.The climate knows neither Europe nor Asia. Nothing that Europe and the West accomplish in this field has the slightest meaning if reduction of emissions is not global.Re: “Confidence in science drops among adults — Divide in U.S.
