Re: “State Fair gun ban is a misguided policy — Rule infringes on rights and compromises safety,” by Rob Chadwick and Michael Cargill, Sept. 27 Opinion.It‘s hard to fathom that you would decide to publish this column. I love how it starts with stating the need for proper training and completely ignores the fact that there are literally no laws requiring any type of training to own a firearm.Then to top it off, the writers add that gun-free zones are where the most mass shootings happen.
The best defense is a bad guy with no gun being watched by a large and well-trained police force. I do not want to be in crossfire between rival gangs, nor between any two shooters, licensed or not. Fair officials should not have taken advantage of that exception to create a gun-free zone. Nothing good can come of keeping good guys with a gun banned from the State Fair while bad guys will ignore the ban as always.
