A reader wants any vote to cut benefits done by roll call and televised.I take exception to the Rev. Bert Clayton’s position in his letter to the editor. A biblical passage is quoted, implying that Republican U.S. Reps.
The hypocrisy lies with Biden and other Democrats. Recall the president’s comments when he became aware that Donald Trump had classified documents in his home. Biden said in a television interview, “How could anyone be so irresponsible?”America has reached the limit again! The Republicans say that they won’t discuss raising the debt ceiling without budget cuts. They have talked about cuts to Social Security, Medicare and even veteran benefits, but the talks are very discreet.
If the GOP wants to have negotiations, the negotiations should be on television with all of America watching, and when the vote is taken, it should be by roll call. Every senator and representative who wants to cut Social Security should be identified. Every senator and representative who wants to gut Medicare should be identified. Every senator and representative who wants to cut veterans benefits should have the courage to admit it.
