Letters to the Editor: Issue 1 is an attempt to silence Ohioans. Support humane immigration. Is religion rule next in United States?

Our constitution is now threatened by the present Supreme Court.

But how will our present Supreme Court rule in a future contested case in which the discrimination is charged against a person who has a sincerely held belief in opposition to Christian beliefs? Are the Christian Conservatives who dominate the present Supreme Court on the path to establishing one religion as dominant over all other beliefs? Their recent decisions are headed in the direction of establishing a national religion, a prohibition in the present Constitution as interpreted by most constitutional scholars.With the Fourth of July holiday came thoughts of freedom and civic responsibility.

We have seen Issue 1 for what it is, an attempt to silence the voices of Ohioans and revoke our freedom to govern ourselves via ballot initiatives. Let us not forget that the Fourth of July was the anniversary of our fight for freedom and democracy.
