East Bay Times Letters to the Editor for Oct. 5, 2022

I would like to encourage people to reelect Jean Josey for the Dublin City Council. As part of the city of Dublin’s fiscal sustainability task force five years ago, I got to see her ability to work with people of divergent perspectives and backgrounds, and the diligent way she prepares.

I was raised to throw my trash in the garbage, and I raised my three children to do so as well. If California implemented its existing penal code for littering and allowed citizens to take pictures of offenders and send them to Caltrans so that the litterers will be held accountable, we would have an army of trash collectors. An additional deterrent would be to increase the time of offenders for picking up roadside litter to an entire week of service.

The person asking for advice made an effort to be apolitical. It could have been about a U.S. flag, an Earth flag, a Ukrainian flag or something with text. In addition to introducing a divisive comment, Amy did not reiterate in her summary what is likely the most helpful advice she suggested earlier — to actually talk with the neighbor about the issue.Republican positions are not generally popular.
