An out-of-state reader knows first-hand the impact Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich has had on and off the court.I completely disagree with the letter writer. The circus is the owner of the bar, Moses Rose’s Hideout, who told Bexar County last year that his bar was worthA circus was Ripley’s Believe It or Not! right in front of the Alamo. Frankly, the Alamo Trust has already improved the Alamo experience exponentially, though the $14 to get into the museum needs to be seriously rethought.
At one point he saw Spurs coach Gregg Popovich in the stands across the gym observing the games. I watched as my son walked around the court and climbed the stands to him, not sure how such a league luminary might accept his approach. Not only was Popovich gracious to Colin, but he also introduced him to the men he was sitting with, who turned out to be members of the Spurs.
Surely Popovich is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, coach in NBA history and certainly deserves to be elevated to the Hall of Fame. But as a parent I can assure his community that even when the cameras are not on him, he is a warm and generous guy who was willing to give time to a kid he didn’t know.Gary J. Remal, Freeport, MaineI am deeply concerned about the erosion of religious freedom in our country.
