It is only through the latter type of patriotism, with the free exchange of ideas and information, that we can work our way toward a more just society. The banning of books and the squelching of ideas, in schools or elsewhere, on the other hand, facilitate an angry and unthinking patriotism in which people are easy prey for whatever demagogue happens to be in authority.Thanks for publishing business columnist Michael Taylor.
