LEGO is expanding its Super Mario line with new additions to the Mario Kart theme. Two sets are launching first: Mario Kart – Piranha Plant Power-Up Pursuit and Mario Kart Shy Guy & P-Wing.
The Piranha Plant Power-Up Pursuit, a 588-piece set, features Toadette and Koopa Troopa with their karts, the Cat Cruiser and the Tanooki Cart respectively. A unique feature is the Piranha Plant Power Up that attaches to either kart, moving when the car is in motion. The second set, Mario Kart Shy Guy & P-Wing, is smaller at 249 pieces and includes a Shy Guy figure and a P-Wing with a shell-launching function and Standard Tires with a detachable Plane Glider. The set also includes a Banana element, which can be thrown at rival karts. LEGO is also releasing a set that brings the nostalgic feel of the arcade home. The 468-piece Arcade Machine set features a fictional (non-playable) game called SPACE. The cabinet opens to reveal a complete gaming room with a computer, sofa, and a mini arcade game system
