The Whites youngster has impressed in pre-season, much to Junior Firpo's delight
Mateo Joseph's pre-season form has not gone unnoticed among the Leeds United faithful ahead of the new Championship season - and his team-mates are only too pleased to see him continue to develop.
The youngster is now firmly in contention to start next Saturday's season opener against Portsmouth at Elland Road, with his four goals in pre-season potentially giving him the edge over Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe. His rise is something team-mate Junior Firpo has watched at close hand, and ahead of the big kick-off, the defender revealed the work Joseph puts in behind the scenes is starting to pay off.
“You can see him tracking back, defending with us, holding the ball, going on the counter. He has everything to be a really good striker so whatever we go with, if it’s Mateo, Patrick or Joel it’s really good options and we just have to work for them to try to bring them up the pitch. I’ll try to make the most assists for them as I can to score goals.”
