Shankland is wanted at Ibrox despite neglecting to launch January attempt
Rangers could yet test the strength of Hearts’ resolve to keep hold of skipper Lawrence Shankland this summer.
And he could press the button on an official bid before the start of the new campaign - but only if he can raise sufficient funds from player sales to balance the books. It’s likely the Tynecastle club will hold out for top dollar even though the 28-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his current contract and would be available as a free agent in the New Year. And that means Clement may have to find as much as £3million to tempt them into cashing in on their topscorer.
Goldson’s name is also believed to feature on Gerrard’s list of potential signings but the central defender is attracting strong interest from Cypriot side Aris Limassol. Birmingham City have also been linked to the Englishman but it’s understood Goldson would have to take a 50 per cent drop in wages should he choose to join the Championship club.
