This article discusses Latto's rise to fame, her Grammy nomination for the song 'Big Mama', and how her music influences her personal style. It also includes details about her outfit, makeup, and beauty routine for the 2025 Grammy Awards.

Latto is the artist to know. The Georgia rapper has had a come up of dreams. From her younger years as an aspiring rapper on the popular competition show, The Rap Game, to being a Grammy-nominated artist with several viral back-to-back hits, it's clear her stardom has only just begun.

At the 2025 Grammys, Latto's hit single “Big Mama” was nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance. We saw the 26-year-old show us why the song is a hit when she performed at the Teen Vogue Summit last November. Latto previously was nominated for two other Grammys at the 65th Awards ceremony for Best Melodic Rap Performance of her song “Big Energy” and then Best New Artist for her album 777. Latto has clearly made a name for herself and that fame is just a testament to her hard work and love for the culture. Her album Sugar Honey Iced Tea was a love letter to Georgia, the South, and everything that made her who she is today. That ode even being Grammy nominated is honor enough. We caught up with Latto before she headed off to the Grammys to talk about her look for the night, her beauty routine, and what this era of “Big Mama” means to her personal style. Teen Vogue: I would love to know the process of choosing your outfit for the Grammys. How did it get started? How did you decide on a designer and style? Latto: I’ve been feeling classy vibes lately, so I wanted to go for a “less is more” type of look. My stylists Matt and Reggie and I worked with Alexandre Vaulthier on a few sketches for months before deciding on this timeless look. TV: Walk me through your hairstyle and makeup for the night? What was the vibe you were going for? Latto: For hair, I wanted it to be out of my face and let the dress and fur lead. I do my own makeup, and I stick to looks that highlight my natural features. This is my version of glam makeup and probably about as heavy as I’ll go. TV: What does your getting ready process look like on a big day like the Grammys? Do you have any rituals you have to complete before a big event? Latto: It’s a hectic day, and I have to wake up super early. I do extensive skincare and get an IV. I also play music that calms me like gospel, reggae, and R&B. TV: What are you doing to get into the mindset for the Grammys tonight? Latto: My mindset is just to have fun and be in the moment. Being nominated for a third time is already a win for me where I’m from. TV: When it comes to picking a heel for an awards show what are your non-negotiables? Latto: I don’t think I have any non-negotiables for the carpet. Usually I’d say I have to wear a comfortable heel, but for carpets I don’t really care because I literally keep them on for the 3 minutes I’m on the carpet and switch to my slippers. TV: We’ve been loving this current “Big Mama” era. Do you feel like your music during each era plays a role in your personal style and what you want to wear? Latto: For sure. My big mama aesthetic is bossy. Classy but sexy. Mob wife vibes. TV: When you first wrote “Big Mama,” did you ever think it would become a Grammy nominated song? What has it been like seeing the success of the song take off? Latto: I just make music that is authentic to me in the moment. I really been feeling like “Big Mama!” The energy and intention behind the music is genuine and authentic, so I think I end up manifesting the success naturally versus necessarily chasing it. TV: What does it mean to you to be here in this moment, putting on for the South—and for Southern rap? Latto: My album Sugar Honey Iced Tea was an ode to growing up in Atlanta, so being Grammy nominated for a song off of it is just a full circle moment. This was all the reassurance I needed. It’s just the beginning.
